Onam Celebration at Tamil Nadu College of Engineering Raises Funds for Kerala Flood Relief

Tamil Nadu College of Engineering celebrated Onam on September 13, 2024, by contributing to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund for Wayanad, which was affected by landslides and floods in July 2024.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu College of Engineering in Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, celebrated Onam on September 13, 2024, with a unique twist. Instead of just focusing on festivities, the college community came together to contribute to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund, specifically for Wayanad district, which was severely affected by multiple landslides and flash floods on July 30, 2024.

Dr. Anusha, CEO of Park Institutions, addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the staff and students for their generous contributions. She highlighted the tragedy in Wayanad, where approximately 300 lives were lost due to the natural disasters.

The celebration maintained traditional elements, with Onasadya (the traditional Onam feast) served during lunch. The festive spirit continued throughout the day, blending the joy of the harvest festival with a sense of solidarity for those affected by the calamity in Kerala.

This thoughtful approach to celebrating Onam demonstrates the college's commitment to social responsibility and community support, extending beyond state borders in times of need.
