Yoga Instructor Sets World Record for 15-Day Blindfolded Yoga Marathon in Udumalpet

Yoga teacher Gunasekaran completes a 360-hour blindfolded yoga marathon in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, setting a world record and receiving recognition from the High Range Book of World Records.


Coimbatore: In a remarkable display of endurance and skill, yoga instructor Gunasekaran from Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, has successfully completed a 15-day blindfolded yoga marathon, setting a new world record. The event, which concluded recently, was held at a private marriage hall in Udumalpet.

Gunasekaran, who runs the Maragatham Yogalayam in Udumalpet, undertook this challenge to mark International Yoga Day. The marathon lasted for an impressive 360 hours over 15 consecutive days, showcasing various yoga asanas while blindfolded.



Upon completion of this extraordinary feat, Gunasekaran was awarded a certificate and medal by the High Range Book of World Records, officially recognizing his achievement. Speaking about his motivation, Gunasekaran stated, "I performed yoga blindfolded to emphasize that even visually impaired individuals can practice yoga and reap its health benefits."

He further explained that this marathon was a progression from his previous achievements, which included performing thousands of yoga asanas in four hours while in a running car. "This 15-day continuous yoga performance is a first in India, and I dedicate this achievement to our nation," Gunasekaran added.

The event culminated in a ceremony attended by notable figures, including Suman Bale, the Indian CEO of the High Range Book of World Records, K. Srikanth, the London CEO, and Swami Sunildas from Snegam Trust, among others.

This remarkable feat not only showcases Gunasekaran's dedication to yoga but also highlights the potential of yoga as an inclusive practice, accessible to people of all abilities.
