A 12-year-old male Indian gaur was found dead near Singulzhi village in the Gopanari section of the Periyanaickenpalayam Forest Range. Forest officials said the post-mortem examination indicated that the animal may have died following an infighting incident.
Coimbatore: A 12-year-old male Indian Gaur was found dead near Singulzhi village in the Anaikatti North Beat of the Gopanari section in the Periyanaickenpalayam Forest Range on Wednesday.
The animal’s carcass was found near Kodundharai Odai, following which a post-mortem examination was conducted on August 19 under the supervision of the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore.
The examination was carried out by forest veterinary doctor Dr. Vijayaraghavan, Pethikuttai, in the presence of the Periyanaickenpalayam Forest Range Officer, forest personnel and representatives of voluntary organisations.
Preliminary findings from the post-mortem indicated that the animal had died following an infighting incident involving another animal.
