'Minimum source price for copra coconut should be raised to Rs.150:' MLA Pollachi Jayaraman petitions Coimbatore Dist. Collector

The MLA petitioned the Collector stating that since the time for procurement of copra coconut is limited, steps should be taken to procure it through all major cooperative societies.

Coimbatore: MLA Pollachi Jayaraman met the District Collector of Coimbatore, G S Sameeran and submitted a petition insisting that the minimum reference price for copra coconut should be increased from Rs.105.90 to Rs.150 per kg.

In his petition, MLA Pollachi Jayaraman stated, "The Tamil Nadu Government should document the increase in the price of copra coconut in the market. As there is only one month's time to purchase copra, steps should be taken to purchase through all the important co-operative societies as in the past, instead of only through the existing agricultural regulation sales hall.

Similarly, arrangements should be made to receive the amount for the purchased copra by cheque, once a week. A separate USER ID should be provided for each purchase station. Also, the minimum source price for copra coconut should be raised from Rs.105.90 to Rs.150 per kg.
