A day after residents of White House Apartments on Dinnur Main Road prevented the BBMP from demolishing a part of the compound, civic officials agreed to resurvey the area.
The decision was taken after they met the residents as well as MLA Y.A. Narayanaswamy and councillor Ganesh Rao Mane.
Assistant Executive Engineer Basavraj said that if the resurvey shows that the area in question falls in the buffer zone, it will be demolished. He added that the owners of a hotel next to the apartment complex had demolished a portion marked by BBMP officials on Thursday.
Mr. Mane said that after listening to the residents, he and Mr. Narayanaswamy had requested BBMP officials for a fresh survey. "Tomorrow or the day after, they will be coming for the survey," he added.
A resident said, "There is a difference of opinion between what the BBMP is saying and our stand. We believe that the apartment complex does not encroach on the storm water drain and have sought a resurvey."
On Wednesday, residents had gathered in large numbers and prevented civic officials from demolishing anything on their property.
