Coimbatore collector distributes orders worth Rs 2.37 crores to beneficiaries

Coimbatore collector T. N. Hariharan, conducted a people contact camp at Irumpotai which comes under Mettuppalayam circle in Coimbatore today. At this camp Rs.2.37 crores worth welfare benefits were distributed to 264 beneficiaries.

When speaking after distributing the welfare benefits the district collector said, “Schemes which were announced by the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu are being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government. Instead of people approaching the government with their grievance, the government is reaching out to the people. A contact programme is conducted at all the villages once in a month.”

“The schemes that have been announced by the Tamil Nadu government are helpful for individuals and for the society. The government has worked towards empowering women, so that they can be self reliant. Applications are received from people in Mettuappalayam and action will be taken on some of the applications immediately. The grievances mentioned in the remaining applications will be fulfilled through the concerned departments.” assured the district collector.

Commenting on the various benefits distributed the district collector said “In total 129 applications were received and the concerned officials were directed to take action on the applications immediately. Orders were distributed to 41 beneficiaries for providing elderly pension, scholarships were provided for 3 beneficiaries under the farmers’ protection scheme and natural death assistance. Ration cards were distributed to 75 through Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, housing plots were distributed to 130 beneficiaries, agricultural assistance was provided to 5 farmers through the agricultural department and about 9 beneficiaries were provided costless housing plots.”
