'No child should be left without being vaccinated at the smallpox, rubella vaccination drive', says District Collector


The District Collector, T.N.Hariharan, has urged parents to ensure that their children who are aged between from 9 months to 15 years are vaccinated at a special camp for smallpox and rubella that is scheduled to be hosted from 6th to 28th February in our city. 

Ahead of this ambitious vaccination drive, the District Collector chaired a meeting at his office to prepare men and material for the vaccination camp.

When speaking at this meeting he said, “Full-fledged preparations are being carried out to conduct the vaccination camp from 06.02.2017 to 28.02.2017. We are preparing to ensure that 7.8 lakhs children are vaccinated at this camp.

For the purpose, about 400 officials and workers from health department and around 966 workers from integrated child development programme, will be on duty at this camp. Also schools teachers, head masters, officials from revenue department, rural development, city police, rotary club, lions club, Indian red cross society and voluntary organisations will participate in this vaccination drive and aid in smooth conduct of the drive. 

Efforts are being made to spread the awareness among the public, especially parents about this vaccination camp. Those who are aware of this camp, must spread the message to others, so that maximum children could be benefited through this drive'.

He also stated that “Steps are taken to ensure that school teachers are well-informed about this camp as through a vast number of parents could be reached. The special team deputed for this drive will ensure that all school kids are vaccinated through the drive. Additionally, we are also taking steps to ensure that a special vaccination camp is organized for kids who are not enrolled in schools. To make the purpose of the camp successful, parents should cooperate and take earnest efforts to bring their kids to the camps'.

The District Collector affirmed that the aim of this camp is to ensure that not even a single child should be left without vaccination.

Deputy Director of Public Health Department, Banumathi, Secretary of Indian Medical Council, Shanmugasundaram, District Health Officer, Santhosh and various government officials were present during the meeting.
