Lawyers in Coimbatore today celebrated Pongal by wearing green shirts demanding that the central and the state government takes necessary action to prevent the farmer suicides and to improve the state of agriculture in our state. The celebrations were hosted at the Coimbatore district court complex.
Pongal is celebrated every year in the Coimbatore court premises. As part of the celebrations, criminal lawyers union organised the Pongal celebrations at the court complex. The lawyers cooked sweet pognal and distributed it to all the people who were present. They also painted the horns of cows and decorating them using accessories.
The lawyers also said that the Pongal festival is celebrated in the court complex to create an awareness about this festival among the younger generation. A huge number of lawyers participated in this celebrations wearing green shirts. They also stated that the state and central governments should take action for providing compensation to the farmers who are hit by drought.
