When speaking to the press in Coimbatore, Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP leader, and the current Minister of State (with Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas in the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government said, “The number of LPG users has increased from 13 crores to 19 crores in two years. A target of 5 crores was set for providing LPG connections by 2019 for the people who are living below the poverty line of which 1.5 crore people were provided the LPG connection three months ahead of the schedule.”
“5 lakh women die every year due to the accidents that happen at home. Insurance money up to 6 lakhs can be obtained in the case of death caused by LPG cylinders. The information will be printed on the LPG card.”
“Tamil Nadu is ahead of all other states in usage of LPG cylinders. Dharmapuri, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Viluppuram, Perambalur, Nagapattinam and Thanjavur districts are below the national average of 71 percent in using LPG. Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy have been selected for implementing the 100 percent cashless transactions.”
He also added “Out of 4554 petrol stations in Tamil Nadu 4076 stations offer cashless facility. The electronic transaction has increased from 5 percent before demonetisation to 28 percent at present. Also, the 10000 LPG gas agencies will be added to the current 18 thousand dealers to encourage the usage of LPG gas.” he said.
