The 77th all India inter-university sports meet will be declared open tomorrow at the VOC grounds in the city.
Ahead of this event, organisers of this athletic meet when speaking to the press said, “The all India sports meet for the year 2016-2017 will begin tomorrow and will conclude on 15 January. Four thousand athletes from more than 150 universities in India will participate in this meet. 22 competitions will be conducted in this meet. 180 referees will judge the various events in this meet.”
“Electronic gadgets are used for the first time to record the athletes’ points in this meet. Tamil Nadu ministers S.P. Velumani, Anabalagan, District collector T.N. Hariharan, Corporation Commissioner and Presiding Officer K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Devaram, President of Tamil Nadu Athletic Association, and Chief Secretary for Youth Sports Rajendrakumar will be present during the inauguration function.
