Sri Shakthi College of Engineering and Technology hosts two-day event on agriculture.

The Agricultural Engineering department of Sri Shakthi College of Engineering and Technology organised “Velaan Thiruvizha -2017” a two-day agriculture based event at the college premise today.

Dr.Jacob Annamalai, Principal Scientist and Head ICAR- Central Institute of Engineering, Coimbatore inaugurated the event at 93:0 am. 


The welcome address was delivered by Dr.S.Thangavelu, Chairman of the institution. In his speech he thanked everyone who helped in bringing out this event. He also notified that the event was first of its kind. He discussed the purpose of the event and involvement of electronics in agriculture. He also briefly discussed about Indian agriculture and its development and also about India’s relationship with other countries through agriculture.

Er.S.Kumaraselvam, Deputy General Manager and Head Engineering National Seeds Corporation, New Delhi emphasized on production of quality seeds and mechanized farming. He also spoke about introducing new irrigation systems.   “Sincere hard work and dedication to duty is the way to achieve success”, he stressed.

Dr.Jacob Annamalai, Principal Scientist and Head ICAR-Central Institute of Engineering, Coimbatore congratulated the chairman for conducting such unique events and he spoke about reasons behind the drawbacks in agricultural production and also simple solutions to rectify it. He also encouraged the students to become industrialist and entrepreneurs and work hard towards the goal. 



As a part of this programme discussions, an exhibition on agricultural equipments and a seminar was hosted. In the exhibition more than 50 agricultural equipments manufactured in Tamil Nadu were on display. The students of this college displayed products which were developed by them. The programme was helpful for the farmers and students as it served as a platform of information exchange among the students and farmers.


Soil less agriculture, Cattle rearing, milk production, manufacture of milk products,  cultivating greens and economic benefits of our native cattle were some of the topics that were discussed by experts from varied fields during the session.




The students thoroughly enjoyed the session as they could gain a lot of knowledge and facts about agriculture and it's allied products. Such sessions, would motivate the students to take up agriculture research and invent mechanized and effective ways of production in the days to come.
