'Let's do yoga with a pen'!

"Time doesn't lead to success but energy leads to success" says Priya Raghuram, an internationally certified heal your life trainer and Zentangle trainer.

Priya, a spirited young woman who's into arts therapy, play therapy and psychodrama. Been in the transactional analysis field of learning, she is one of a certified trainer of this artistic yoga that is named as Zentangle. Here's what Priya says about Zentangle, which many of us wouldn't have come across.

'This is an artistic form of Yoga involving the mind than the physique but doesn't demand any artistic experience. The goal is to ease off the participants from the tech savvy world and reassure them to source and channelize their inner energy. No physical postures, no breathing exercises but all you need is a pen to get relaxed through Zentangle.

Asanas are been replaced by tangles, a black and white tile pattern. The black colour is known to stimulate the right side of the brain. Hence, repetitive patterns of black helps one to focus, thus slowing down the thought process, ensuring calmness giving a similar effect of Yoga.

It is a fun yet creative way of relaxing the mind and improve one's personal well-being. It creates interest and engross people to keenly focus on the activity. Different type of forms, shapes, abstracts are created using these tangles. The more the tangle gets complicated it engages the person more into the process and helps in improving his focus.

Before going on board into using tangles, a set of relaxing and focusing exercises to train the the subconscious mind are dealt. Then gradually participants proceed to draw tangles. The entire three hours of class combining various modalities of healing, calming and relaxing does all that Yoga assures for the mind.

The Zentangle kit is easy to carry and one can do it anywhere, anytime at any place. Priya suggests, before kicking off the morning routine chores, just play with the tangles for a little while and get all that energy to handle the rest of the day with zest.

The participants for my classes varies from teenagers to senior citizens. For a few it's a stress buster activity while others join to enhance their artistic skills. Whatever be the reason, at the end of the class they go back with a feel of calmness and content. Patience, self-acceptance, confidence, decreased depression levels are also what they achieve after the classes. And, that's the reason I choose to conduct the classes at a very serene and calm environment', says Priya.

Started a couple of months back, more than 80 people have attended the classes, so far. THe Zentangle classes by Priya is regularly conducted at GV Residency. To explore the tangles and ease off the messy tangles in your minds, call Priya at 9500247625 and get to know more!
