Pradeep Kumar who was admitted to the Ellen hospital located in Gandhipuram in the city died at this hospital yesterday. His relatives damaged the hospital and attacked Dr. Ramachandran alleging medical negligence as the cause of his death.
Rathinapuri police have registered a case and are investigating this matter. The doctors from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Coimbatore chapter, today filed a complaint with the police commissioner A. Amalraj requesting him to take action against those who attacked the doctors at this hospital.
When speaking to the press the petitioners stated, “If it is proved that the doctors at this hospital have made a mistake, legal action can be taken against the hospital. Under any circumstances, attacking the staff of the hospital is wrong. Those who initiated this attack and those who are involved in this attack should be arrested and action should be taken against them under the Hospital Protection Act 2008.”
In the mean time, the body of Pradeep Kumar was handed over to family after a post-mortem was done at the Coimbatore General Hospital (GH).
