A lorry which was carrying garbage was dumping wastes on the stretch of road near Idayarpalayam in Vellalore close to a residential area. Residents, who noticed this activity, caught the lorry and the 7 persons who were involved in this act.
The alert residents informed the Podanur police about this incident and the police rushed to this location. Subsequently, the police arrested the driver and owner of the lorry Abu Thahir. The source of the garbage is yet to be ascertained.
Natives allege that it is the attitude of the officials from Tamil Nadu that is giving room to such incidents. One of the residents said that the officials from Tamil Nadu must act tough on such incidents instead of just collecting fines. Lorries that entre the Tamil Nadu border with the intention of dumping waste in our state must be confiscated.
