License of pharmacy will be cancelled if found selling medicines without valid prescriptions

Joint director of Medicine and Rural Welfare schemes Tamilmani stated that license of pharmacies found selling drugs without a valid doctor’s prescriptions will be stripped. When speaking to journalists in Coimbatore Tamilmani said, “The medical shops have been instructed to not to sell any medicines without the prescription of a doctor. Painkillers in particular, should not be sold without the doctor’s prescription. If taken without the supervision of the doctors the pain killers may damage kidneys and the pancreas.”

In order to keep a check on this Tamilmani said “An assistant director and six medical inspectors have been appointed to check over the counter sale of drugs. Action, through the police department, will be taken against pharmacies that are involved in selling medicines and tobacco.”

Tamilmani also added that “Dengue is under control in Coimbatore and our city is ready with medicines to deal with any outbreak of dengue. Also efforts have been made to prevent spread of dengue.”
