Avinashilingam School of Management Technology and The Institute of Finance and Management of Tanzania in partnership with The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting a UGC sponsored two day conference on Development Policy titled ‘Leveraging investment, Infrastructure and Intellectual Capital for Economic Development’. This two day conference was inaugurated yesterday and it will conclude today, 16 December.

Dr. U. Jerinabi, Dean of the Business Administration department of Avinashilingam University welcomed the gathering. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Minister for Railways delivered the inaugural address. Mohammed Hija,, Deputy High Commissioner of Tanzania for India presented the keynote address.

Saraswathi, Secretary General of Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry in her address said "The topic is a relevant topic for the business study” she also gave an introduction about MCCI to the students and also explained the various works that has been done by MCCI. “India a recognised country is like an elephant slow but steady. That is one of the reasons why we were able to overcome the recession and global economic turmoil. We have to improve infrastructure, investment and the intellectual capital for the economic development of the country.” she said.

Dr. K. Santhosh Babu Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai delivered the special address. Ram Venkatramani, President of Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chennai and Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice-Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women also addressed the gathering.
