Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College hosts 'Entrepreneurs Summit'


The Alumni Association of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) joined hands with SREC Business Incubator and SREC Centre for Innovation to host the 'SREC Entrepreneurs Summit' (SES).

Ranganath Thota, Founder and CEO-Fueladream.com from Bangalore inaugurated the summit and spoke on the importance of Crowd Funding in market place for people and organization that aim to raise funds for creative ideas, causes, charities etc. He also shared the business categories in the B2C space and steps involved in launching new products. He shared the creative solutions to complex issues and to ramp new business.



Mentoring support was provided by S. Manikandan, MD-Miltex Engineers, Spero E-Bike, Coimbatore and Karthikeyan Jawahar, Director, Karma Innovation and Solution Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore.

Manikandan, MD of Miltex Engineers, shared his thoughts on e-mobility thought process and the opportunities towards the natural fibers, renewable energy and storage.

While, Karthikeyan spoke about the key skill sets on strategic planning, product development, quality, reliability and financial wellness Entrepreneurship. During the interaction, the mentors shared their views regarding the importance of having a vision and the need to have thirst of scalability of business operations.

R.Vijayakumar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust presided over the function. Dr.N.R.Alamelu, Principal outlined the importance of Alumni Interaction and the steps taken by the Alumni Association, Centre for Innovation and Business Incubator for contributing the entrepreneurial spirit among the students. J .S. Shanthini, President, SREC Alumni Association, welcomed the gathering.

The event was mainly organized for bringing together the alumni entrepreneurs and the students aspiring to become entrepreneurs under single platform. 75 alumni entrepreneurs participated in the event. The alumni entrepreneurs showcased their products at the venue. Around 2000 student visited the stalls. The alumni entrepreneurs provided a two minutes introductory pitch about their ventures. This provided a platform for the students to understand their business and also enabled networking interaction among the alumni entrepreneurs.

One important outcome of the introductory pitch was, understanding the requirement of alumni entrepreneurs resulting in project/product internship opportunities for the students.

During the summit, the students of SREC proposed their ideas, 'Spark' the Fire-Students Ideation Contest was also hosted as part of the event. B. Mohankumar, Joint Secretary/SREC Alumni Association and Coordinator of the programme, thanked the gathering in his closing remarks.
