Officials meet Chief Minister over new schools

After primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait announced the government would not give permission for any new private school, managements have taken up the issue with chief minister Siddaramaiah. D Shashi Kumar, general secretary, Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) said, "We have asked the CM to reconsider the move, specially in places where there are no schools."

The managements also discussed issues related to the RTE Act. They said the government has to make public the revised expenditure per child. "The Act is being misused. RTE and RTI activists have begun to harass managements. We have asked the law department to initiate an educational institutions, safety and security bill," said Kumar.
