Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI), is an organisation focused on creating an eco-friendly environment by promoting herb restoration/native species plantation, creating urban eco responsibility, composting, setting up bio diversity parks in schools, animal care, youth camps and mass awareness camps.
Today, EFI organised a massive clean-up drive in the Selva Chinthamani Lake, Perur.
Physical waste like plastic covers and other wastes were removed from the lake and its basins. The continued dumping of wastes, has rerouted migratory birds that visit these lakes for breeding to various other places due to the contaminated water and lack of fodder (fish) for them.
NGO's are tirelessly working in reversing the present contaminated status of water bodies around the city and transform them to pristine conditions, as before. It's time the citizens of the city act with responsibility and help these NGOs hand-in-hand to clean and maintain these water bodies in clean conditions, instead of treating them as mere garbage bins.
