17 vehicles confiscated for dumping medical wastes in Ettimadai to be released

About 17 vehicles from Kerala that were confiscated by the police for dumping medical wastes in Tamil Nadu have been ordered to be released by the court today after the necessary documents were provided. It may be recalled that in October, this year,  medical wastes from Kerala was brought to Tamil Nadu in several lorries to be dumped near Ettimadai In Coimbatore.

However, an alert public from the area stopped the lorries from dumping the wastes and informed officials of concerned departments. The K.G. Chavadi police registered a case in this regard and confiscated the vehicles that were used for dumping the waste.



The land owner and the persons who leased the land for waste segregation from the land owner Muhammad Ilyas, Shaji, Sabir and the lorry drivers were subsequently arrested. Cases were filed against 27 persons and 24 people were arrested by the police for the crime.

A search has been launched for three more persons for their involvement in this crime. The case is being fought in the Coimbatore district court JM7. The court on Thursday ordered the release of 17 vehicles which were confiscated as necessary documents were submitted to the court. The K.G. Chavadi police also said that the vehicles will be sent back once the documents are submitted at the police station as per the courts order.
