Dimexon Diamonds Limited is located in Paapampatti near Sulur in Coimbatore District. About 400 women employees are working in Unit-3 of this company. It has been reported that company had relocate to Narasimanaickenpalayam on Mettupalayam Road, over night.
The employees of this firm who reported to work this morning as usual, were surprised to notice that a notice was pasted on the door, informing them of the relocation of this company to the new location, overnight. The notice also conveyed that one of the units of this company has been shut, overnight. Following this, the employees of this company, conducted a sit in protest before this company.
One of the protestors stated “A majority of the employees of this company are from Sulur and if the company is shifted to Narasimanaickenpalayam, many practical difficulties will arise due to the distance we need to travel every day, which is about 60 kilometres, a majority of the workforce are women.”
“We were informed by the company that there is no work for us. However, when we saw the notice which stated that the company is relocated to Narasimanaickenpalayam and this unit is being closed we are shell-shocked. We do not have any job security as there is no guarantee for how long we will be provided jobs”.
A highly placed source shares with us that a majority of the workforce at this company have been working here for the past two decades. It has also been reported that, currently, the representatives of the company and its employees are conducting a meeting in the presence of Labour Welfare Officer. Police has been deployed at this location as the situation remains tense.
