Coimbatore collector issued a press release stating that following the death of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J.Jayalalitha on 5 December, the government had declared a three-day mourning period from 6 December to 8 December. During the period of mourning, TASMAC outlets across the state will remain closed. Action will be taken against people who violate the rules and sell liquor on these days.
