Fire at explosives factory near Tiruchirappalli kills 16

Traffic on the Athur road came to a stand-still, following a blast at an explosives factory near Tiruchirappalli gutting two floors of the building. This factory is involved in the manufacturing of explosives for deepening and widening wells in the rocky belts. About 16 people are reported dead in this accident. Officials are yet to determine what caused the fire.



It has been reported that this fire broke at this five-acre factory around 6 am this morning. Subsequently, at around 7.30 am, a portion (two-floors) of this building were reduced to ashes. Natives of this region share that the impact of this blast was felt, two-kilometers away from this factory.



Officials from the Fire and Rescue Service Department had a tough time to bring this fire under control as this area was receiving heavy rains at the time of this fire broke.
