Traffic halted at Athupalam due to road roko staged by SDPI party against demonetisation.


Today, Political parties all over Tamil Nadu are conducting protests condemning the Cemtral Government's move on announcing demonetization of high value currency. In connection to the same, here, activists of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) members conducted a protest near Athupalam, Ukkadam.

The members demonstrated a novel way of protest by holding beggar bowls and raised cries and pleas seeking money for survival,  garnering the attention of the public and the passing-by motorists. One of the members shared that,'this sudden announcement has created huge impact in the lives of ordinary citizens whose day-to-day is put under jeopardy'. The protestors raised slogans against the central government and urging withdrawal of the demonetization announcement to safeguard the interest of it's citizens. 

Owing to the protest, the traffic was halted for half hour. The police arrested close to 160 members of the SDPI party and cleared the traffic at the Ukkadam- Athupalam road.
