29.67 crores of tax collected through demonetised currency, says CCMC


An amount of 2.59 crores has been collected towards taxes from the public using demonetised 500's and 1000's, says a press release from the City Corporation.

After the announcement by the Special Officer, CCMC, Vjayakarthikeyan extending the dates till 24th November, 2016, everyday the public have been remitting their pending and current tax dues at all zonal collection centres designated by CCMC. A consolidated amount of 29.67 crores have been collected so far as dues from the public.

Today's break-up for 2.59 crores:

East Zone - 54.03 lakhs

West Zone - 35.68 lakhs

South Zone - 31.61 lakhs.

North Zone - 59.05 lakhs.

Central Zone - 79.44 lakhs.
