Church priest imprisoned for harassing female employee

Jeyaraj who served as a priest in a church at Rathinapuri in Coimbatore was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the court for harassing a female employee who was working at the church. A fine of Rs.10,000 was also imposed on him. It is reported that the priest was 66 years old at the time of the incident. He has been booked under sections 376 (rape) of IPC and section 4 of Tamilnadu Woman Harassment Act. The Mahila Court today convicted the accused for harassment but he was subsequently released in the rape case due to lack of evidence against him.
