The cash crunch situation didn’t dampen the Children’s Day celebrations in our city. Several NGOs and organizations celebrated this day that is dedicated to children. City-based The Arc Foundation joined hands with Ambedker Padasaala Team to celebrate birth anniversary of the first Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The two-day celebrations began on November 13 and concluded yesterday.
As a part of the celebrations, a drawing competition with the theme ‘My Kalam My Tribute My Creation’ was hosted for the children of the CMC colony that is located on VH Road. About 40 children participated in this contest. The following day at the same venue The Arc Foundation put together entertainment programmes for children. Ethinic thapateh (Drum Show), magic show by Internationally known and artist magician Vignesh Prabhu, mimicry by Sound Sathesh Zee Tamil fun competitions and cultural programmes were organised.
Rotaract Club of Saibaba Colony partnered with Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore West and celebrated Children’s Day with children of a school for the visually impaired in Thondamuthur. This school provides free education for the blind.

Under the leadership of Principal A Benjamin, Stanes, CBSE School celebrated Children’s Day at their school premises. One of the students Divya delivered a speech about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. In his address to the students the school Principal urged the students to develop the qualities of honesty, integrity, wisdom, humanity, and patriotism.

NGO Aroh that supports children suffering from cancer too celebrated Children’s Day with kids suffering this disease. Parents too gathered at this NGOs office and volunteers gave the children sweets and gifts. Entertainment was performed and short eats were served to all those who participated in the celebrations.

Also celebrating this day that is dedicated to children were the residents of Mayflower apartment. The inmates of this residential complex get together and celebrate every festival. Children’s Day was also celebrated in a grand manner where the children of this community displayed their talents by performing various cultural events.
