When speaking to the press at the Coimbatore airport Tamil Maanila Congress President said, “Lack of precautionary steps before de-validating the Rs.1000 and Rs.500 denominations has led to hardship for all the sections of the society.
He said “The rule invalidating the old currency notes needs to be temporarily withdrawn up to November 30th at the places where people purchase the essential commodities. This will help the traders and small entrepreneurs to save their livelihood. The old currency of 500 and 1000 denominations should be accepted at the railway stations, bus stations and hospitals as announced and the government. Severe action must be take on those people who do not follow this order.
Further he said, people cannot survive with only the two thousand rupees note instead if the government has printed and released new 500 rupees currency it would have helped the people. I wish the Cheif Minister a speedy recovery and hope she comes back to power soon'
