Old man commits suicide due to lack of money for medical expenses

Palanisamy (60) was a resident of Sennamanallur near Thondamuthur in the city. It has been reported that he was suffering from malnutrition for the past five years. His medical expenses kept mounting on one hand and on the other hand, Palanisamy was unable to pay his medical bills. This prompted him to take the extreme step.

Palanisamy committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his home. Sumathi his daughter, on reaching home, found his body hanging and the police were informed. Perur police sent the body to Coimbatore General Hospital (GH) for post mortem. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
