Another crack spotted on track

Kollam: Another crack on the rail track was spotted near Sasthamcotta railway station around 8 am on Thursday. The crack was spotted during a routine inspection by the gatekeeper and was reported to the authorities at Kollam immediately.

This is the fifth crack found on the stretch within a couple of months. The rail traffic towards Ernakulam was delayed for one and a half hours due to this.

The Mangalore-bound Parasuram Express that reached minutes after spotting the crack was stopped at Sasthamcotta station. The railway engineering workers fixed the crack within an hour and the traffic resumed after that.

It was only a month ago that a freight train was derailed not far from where the crack was spotted on Thursday at Sasthamcotta.
