Party high command will decide on electoral alliance: H. Raja of BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary H. Raja said that the party high command would soon decide on alliance and candidates to contest for the assembly elections in the State. Talking to newsmen here and Udhagamandalam on Saturday, he said that the state unit is gearing up for the ‘Ratha Yatra’ that would begin on March 1, for the election.

Stating that Jawaharlal Nehru University has become a hub for extremism, he said that Congress Vice-President Raul Gandhi, Communist Party of India general secretary Sitaram Yechury and senior leader of the Communist Party of India D. Raja should apologise for meeting and sympathising with the students of the University.

He also said that Mr. Raja should leave the country with his family for his daughter’s involvement in the recent incidents in that university.

The BJP national secretary said that the government at the Centre would not tolerate forces that are trying to divide the nation and that they would deal with such persons with an iron hand.

Water scheme

On the Avinashi – Athikadavu Scheme, he said that linking rivers would be the only solution for the water crisis in Tamil Nadu.

He pointed out that rivers were linked in the States where BJP or its alliance was in power and added that such scheme could not be implemented in this state till Dravidian parties were in power.
