TNAU’s bee exhibition and courses on bee keeping is gaining popularity in the city. The participants and visitors have rated the programme as ‘very useful & informative’. Today, our City Mayor, Mr. P. Rajkumar visited the Apiary and Bee Keeping Exhibition at the TNAU Campus. The scientists explained to him the rearing techniques of various bees and with keen interest the Mayor personally handled the honey bees and combs.

Dr.M.R. Srinivasan, Professor of Agricultural Entomology at the Apiary, explained the Mayor about various beekeeping equipments like hive boxes, honey extractor, smoker, queen excluder and protective clothing for bee handlers. Bee products like honey, bees wax, royal jelly, pollen and propolis were also displayed in the exhibit. The Mayor interacted with the scientist and enquired about the existing outreach programmes conducted on beekeeping.

The Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. Ramasamy and all top officials of TNAU where present in the exhibition. The Mayor also participated in an interactive session organized by the Scientists and Students.
