District Judge Alamelu Natarajan, who delivered land mark judgement in honour killing case is no more

Tiruppur District and Sessions Judge, Alamelu Natarajan who delivered the landmark judgment in the V.Shankar (husband of Kausalya) honor killing case died here owing to lung infections she suffered from.

The district judge who was admitted to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital with lung infections has succumbed to her condition, this morning, the hospital authorities said.

It may be recalled that the justice Alamelu Natarajan had awarded life imprisonment of P. Chinnasamy, Kausalya’s father and sent to gallows 6 mercenaries who were involved in the murder. Kausalya’s husband V.Shankar, a Dalit who was murdered in broad daylight.

The honour killing took place at Udumalaipettai in March 2016 in broad day light. The judgment was hailed as a land mark judgment in Indian judicial history against honour killing.
