Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has announced that monthly maintenance work will be carried out at the Somayampalayam substation tomorrow (July 10, 2026) from 9 AM to 4 PM, resulting in a temporary power shutdown across multiple areas.

Due to the scheduled maintenance activities, power supply will be suspended in Somayampalayam and its surrounding localities. Both residential and industrial areas will be affected during this seven-hour maintenance window.

The following areas will experience power disruption: Yamuna Nagar, parts of Kalapanayakkanpalayam, GCD Nagar, Luana Nagar, Kanuvaai, Thadagam Road, Somayampalayam, Agarwal School Road, Cheran Industrial Area, KNG Pudhu Nagar, Vidhya Colony, Saj Garden, Teachers Colony, VMD Nagar, and Nameeta Garden.

According to the official notification issued by the electricity board, power supply will be restored by 4 PM once the maintenance work is completed as scheduled. The board emphasized that these maintenance activities are essential procedures to ensure the efficiency of electrical equipment and prevent future power outages.

Regular maintenance work undertaken by TNEB is a necessary measure to guarantee the operational effectiveness of power infrastructure and to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the long term. Such preventive maintenance helps identify potential issues before they escalate into major breakdowns.

The electricity board has advised residents in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance for the seven-hour power outage period from 9 AM to 4 PM tomorrow. Citizens are requested to plan their daily activities accordingly and take precautionary measures for any electronic equipment or appliances that may be sensitive to power disruptions.
