The much regaling seventh edition of the HSBC Bird Race, Coimbatore, is all set to start on the 28th of January (Sunday) here.
Jointly organised by the Yuhina Canopy, Mumbai, Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) and Salim Ali Naturalist Forum (SANF), event is to witness bird watchers create a checklist of all the birds they have in Coimbatore from dawn to dusk.
“Large gathering of experienced and budding birdwatchers would spend an entire day spotting and identifying birds in an effort to record as many species of birds as possible,” an organiser said.
The organiser further added that participants were needed to form a team with an experienced bird watcher as the team leader. A maximum of four members is allowed per team.
While registration should be made on or before 24th of January, the name list team members and locations that are to be explored must be shared with the organisers.
The race should start by 6.00 am and end by 6.00 pm after which an interactive session has been organised at a private hotel in Gandhipuram.
