Police arrested K.Shekar Babu (27) of Housing unit area in Selvapuram on charges of murdering a 75- year old woman Ramayi Ammal of Devendra Street, in Selvapuram on December 9 and looting 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her house.

Police arrested K.Shekar Babu (27) of Housing unit area in Selvapuram on charges of murdering a 75-year-old woman, Ramayi Ammal of the same area on December 9 and looting 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her house.
Ramayi Ammal, who was living alone in Devendra Street in Selvapuram was found in a pool of blood by neighbors who informed the police.
The arrest was effected when police were engaged in a routine vehicle check near Puttuvikki Paalam near Sundakamuthur. When Shekar who was driving his two-wheeler was questioned, the Police fell suspicious on him due to his contradicting answers.
Later, when inquired the Police found his involvement in the murder of the senior citizen, Ramayi Ammal from Selvapuram.
He was arrested and subsequently produced in the Court after which he was remanded.
