Continuous presence of two tuskers in and around a few villages in the Nilgiris District has instilled fear among the local people here.
The tuskers that were found roaming in the villages of Ullathi, Kadanadu, Shakthinagar, Kavaratti, Mallikorai, Keezh Mallikorai, Kavilorai, Odayaratti, Pendhatti and Alatti and were reportedly coming constantly in contact with humans.
They were also reportedly damaging property and raiding farmlands even during morning.

Despite the forest department trying their best to guide the animal back inside the reserve, they refused to move away.
People have requested the District Administration to bring an end to the tussle with the pachyderm.
