Coimbatore, January 11
Noor Mohammed, a social activist, who thinks "service to humanity is service to God"has captured the imagination of the city denizens in his new role - as a temporary TNSTC driver, ferrying passengers who are left in the lurch by the ongoing busmen strike".
Noor Mohammed is a known face in the city, as he used to contest polls as an independent candidate, even though he had not won any so far.

Decking himself up like a Maharaja or riding a bullock cart, he knew how to attract the attention of the people when he went to file his nomination papers during his foray into electoral politics.
But now he works as a temporary driver for TNSTC on a casual basis. Of all the roles he had donned so far, Noor Mohammed is most satisfied as a temporary driver hired by the TNSTC on a casual basis.
He is seen driving route no: 11 (Railway Junction to Kanuvai) in the city and won kudos for his service-mindedness.
Noor Mohammed spoke to SimpliCity “When I saw school and college students, and general public suffering without transportation, I decided to give my services to TNSTC, which was affected by strike".
"I have derived immense soul satisfaction by working for the people in my new role as a bus driver. I have sacrificed my comfort and even sleeping hours for the sake of the public”, Noor Mohammed said.
According to the good samaritan Noor Mohammed, he would donate the remuneration that he would receive for working as a driver to an orphanage in the city.
