Coimbatore, January 11
Defacement and obliteration of the walls of District collectorate complex by indiscriminate pasting posters and banners have assumed alarming proportions and they have become an eye sour for the visitors to the collector’s office premises.

Every available wall space is taken over by the commercial elements and walls are obliterated and vandalized callously by the posters and prints defacing the office walls.

The poster menace has assumed grave proportions as commercial elements did not blink twice before defacing public places with their " poster culture" of various kinds.

“As per the rules, no obliteration of walls of Government offices or buildings should be done by pasting posters for advertisement purpose. The various Government employees associations first paved the way for such a culture to take roots, which was taken over by commercial elements later. The collector should enforce strict laws to weed out this poster menace” Manoj, a social activist said.
