"Violence leashed on women is on an alarming rise, especially in parts governed by BJP" said Mariam Dhawale, General Secretary of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA).

Coimbatore, Jan. 10

"Violence unleashed on women is on an alarming rise, especially in parts governed by BJP" said Mariam Dhawale, General Secretary of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA).

Ms. Mariam along with other executive committee members including Malini Bhattacharya, President of AIDWA were here to attend their association's three-day central committee meeting.

Addressing the press, Ms.Malini slammed that implementation of GST and demonetisation has not just affected the traders but largely impacted women.

"Hindu fringe elements, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Sang Parivar are involved in provoking violence and suppressing the rights of tribals, women and dalit people. And, moreover the violence raged against women is witnessed frequently in states ruled by BJP", she added.

When questioned about the triple talaq bill, Ms. Malini notified that AIDWA has always raised condemnation against triple talaq, however the recent bill passed by the centre against triple talaq will do no good to the women and children who are victims of that system.

"Before passing such pertinent bills, opinions and suggestions from people involved and affected should be sought by the government", she opined.

Executive committee members and state heads, U. Vasuki, Sudha Sundaram, Subashini Ali took part in the meet.
