Two of a family die one admitted in hospital after consuming poison

Manikantan mixed poison in honey and gave it to his sister and her daughter before consuming it himself.



Coimbatore, January 9

Two of a family, Manikantan (54) a realtor of Neeligonampalayam near Singanallur and Bhagyam (74) his sister died and Shanthi, daughter of Bhagyam was admitted In a hospital in a serious condition when Manikantan mixed poison in honey and gave it to his sister and her daughter before consuming it himself.

According to police Manikantan, doing real estate business had taken a loan of Rs.4 lakh from his sister Bhagyam some time back to invest in his business.

However, when Bhagyam asked his brother to return the money, he could not do so allegedly due to a loss in the real estate business. 

In the meanwhile Manikantan, depressed over his inability to return the money mixed poison in honey and administered it to his sister and her daughter before taking it himself. Manikantan used to live with his sister in the past few years.

Shanthi has been admitted to Government medical college hospital in a serious condition.
