Save native breeds from extinction by new Government scheme - Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangam

Urging the government to save the native breeds of cattle which is on the brink of extinction in Tamilnadu, the farmers paraded native bulls and submitted a petition to District Collector T.N. Hariharan.

Urging the government to save the native breeds of cattle which is on the brink of extinction in Tamil Nadu, the farmers paraded native bulls and submitted a petition to District Collector T.N. Hariharan here today.



The farmers of Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangam in their petition have demanded that the government to introduce a special scheme for tending native breed of cattle and facilitate bank loans for farmers with subsidy through primary agriculture cooperative banks in every village.

The farmers also demanded that the milk procurement of the native breeds should also be made through Aavin, for the sustenance of the cattle farmers. Native breeds such as Kangeyam should be given precedence while devising the scheme to save native cattle population.

“Every household should rear native cattle variety in rural areas and enlighten the public on the importance of saving the native breeds for posterity".
