Lack of bus services affects students, tourists in Nilgiris district

Coimbatore, Jan. 6

Even as the TNSTC transport employees strike entered the third day, the regular bus services have remained affected in Nilgiris district due to which tourists, students, and the general public were put to extreme hardship.

Buses were kept off the roads since yesterday in important tourist destinations including Ooty, Coonoor, Kothagiri, and Gudalur due to which the tourists and commuters were stranded in large numbers.

The student community was the most affected lot, as they had to return home due to near nil services to the various parts of the town and to their schools and colleges.

Police pickets were posted in Ooty bus stand to avoid any eventuality.
