The auto rickshaw labor unions in the city have raised the fare structure unilaterally and as per the new structure, a minimum fare is fixed at Rs. 30, with Rs. 15 for every additional kilometer.
“The auto driver’s labor unions had to resort to this move as the Government has failed to revise the fare structure once is two years as per the High court directive,” said a functionary of an auto laborers union.
While demanding that the Government accept the hike fixed by the auto driver unions, the functionaries said if auto drivers are detained by Road Transport authorities, we would resort to protests and agitations.
As per the existing fare structure, the minimum fare is Rs,25 and Rs.12 for every additional kilometer.
