Coimbatore, December 29
Aram Foundation Charitable Trust conducted a one-day awareness programme on self-vigilance and self-defence at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women here.

The sessions were conducted by the Mentor and motivator Madavan, founder of the Trust.
The self-defense trainers Karthik (karate trainer), G. Vivek and Sarat Kumar (Traditional martial arts trainers) imparted hands-on training for the students and enlightened them on how to be alert and respond in an emergency situation where there was little time to escape.

The sessions were about the types of abuse, identification and guidance on how to deal with them.
Special emphasis was laid on the priorities in life of the adolescent students with an understanding of the issues and using their intuition to expect the unexpected.
At the end of the session, the girls were asked to write the problems on a piece of paper without their names for the trainer to classify and counsel them.
