Drinking water leakage inconveniences the residents of Thirumagal Nagar

Coimbatore, December 26

"For the past three weeks, drinking water has been leaking from the damaged pipeline along the first main road at Thirumagal Nagar in Peelamedu Pudur (an area which falls under 56th ward of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation). This has been posing a threat to both pedestrians as well as two-wheeler riders,” lamented, Mr. Chenthamara Menon, a retired government official and a resident of the Thirumagal Nagar.

Water gushes out from the damaged pipeline on all the three days in a week, when water is being supplied to the residents, he pointed out.

Instances of people falling off from two-wheelers due to the slippery condition of the roads owing to the leakage in the pipeline have been on the rise, he added.

“Although we brought it to the attention of TWAD board officials on the very next day after we noticed the leaks, no action has been initiated by the authorities so far,” complained Mr.Menon.

"Our repeated representations to TWAD officials about the leakage has not yet produced any desired results", rued Mrs.Kalavathi, a resident of Thirumagal Nagar.

"When residents of a few areas in the city complain of insufficient water supply, precious resource is being wasted here," she noted.

When contacted TWAD officials said steps would be taken to repair the lines and arrest the water leak immediately.
