Coimbatore, December 23
Poppys Hotel unveiled a 63 ft Christmas tree here today entering the ‘Universal Achiever’s Book of Record’. Believed to be the “tallest Christmas Tree” in India, it weighs 1.2 tons. A team of 30 people has worked on creating the tree over a week’s time, says a release.

“Right from planning, sketching and execution of the tree, our team worked in a phased manner. The idea is to bring Coimbatore to the limelight and we are also aiming to etch our name in the Guinness World Records,” said R. Jayaraman, operation manager, Poppys Group of Hotels.

A source from the hotel shares that in the past, a private society in Worli, Mumbai created a 56-feet tall Christmas tree and in 2014, Shoppers Stop Ltd made a 40ft tall Christmas tree.
The Christmas tree is on display at the in-house coffee shop of the hotel. Hari Arumugam, Managing Director, Poppys Group of Hotels, Mrs. Sangeetha Hari, Director, Poppys Group of Hotels, and Mrs. Leema Rose Martin, Director, Martin Group of Companies, were present on the occasion.

The special Christmas Tree will be on display till January 2, 2018.
