As a prelude to Christmas, goldsmith U.M.T. Raja has made four figurines of Jesus using 50 mg of gold to promote religious harmony. This happens to be the smallest figurine made using gold in the world. Raja who specialises in creating miniature art, has created a Jesus figurine on top of the church using three pencil tips.
Depending on the forthcoming festivals, Raja creates micro level designs in gold to bring out the essence of the festival. For instance, he designed bulls in support of Jallikattu protest during Pongal last year. He has also created miniature designs of the World Cup, MGR for his centenary celebrations and Karunanidhi in gold.
