Sani Peyarchi 2017: Devotees throng temples to seek Sani's blessing

Coimbatore, Dec 19

Hundreds of devotees thronged the Shri Loga Naayaga Shaneswara temple in Puliakulam where Lord Saneeswara was installed recently. In connection with the ‘Sani Peyarchi’ today (Tuesday), the transit of Lord Saturn (Sani) from Vrichigam raasi (zodiac sign Scorpio) to Dhanusu raasi (Sagittarius), special prayers and offerings took place in the temple.

The newly installed idol for Lord Sani is said to weigh 500 kg and is 7.5 ft tall. The devotees offered gingely oil to the deity and took part in the special yagams and prayers.

"Around 20 types of abisheikams including coconut water, honey, milk and gingelly oil were offered to Lord Sani. As Lord Sani rules the planet 'Saturn', devotees throng temples to seek His blessings. Among the devotees, unmarried people and newly married couples performed rituals to get rid of the troubles and lead a happy married life", said a priest from the temple.

Those belonging to zodiac signs Dhanusu (Sagittarius) and Viruchikam (Scorpio) should be cautious and perform special pujas to Lord Sani, he added.
