Meter fare from Jan. 1: decides Auto Drivers' Association

Coimbatore, Dec. 18

The members of the 'Anaithu Auto Thozhirsanga Kootamaippu' here yesterday decided that "meter fare" that would work out well for both the passengers and the auto drivers would come into existence from January 1 across Coimbatore District. They also stressed that the State Government and the Transport department would give their approval.

In an 'Auto Drivers Rights' meeting held at Raja Street demands such as the corporate companies should be allowed to participate in the autorikshaw business and fixing an affordable minimum auto tariff should be brought into existence were discussed. Ansar Basha, president, ATP Auto Association, presided over the meeting.



Nearly 1000 auto drivers participated from 11 Auto Drivers Associations participated in the meeting.
